REEP 2 – Renewable Energy Innovation Talk and Networking Event 2021

Dr. Eckehard Tröster lectured on “Innovations in Smart Grid Control”

The REEP 2 – Renewable Energy Innovation Talk and Networking Event 2021 took place virtually from 30 – 31 August 2021. During the webinar, Energynautics CEO Dr. Eckehard Tröster gave a presentation on Innovations in Smart Grid Control.

He was one of 10 international experts to share their knowledge during the two-day event. During his lecture, Dr. Tröster presented the SNOOPI – Smart Network Control with Coordinated PV Infeed project as well as the Energynautics innovation ENAsecureCharge – Smart Charging of Electric Vehicles.

More than 150 participants benefited from the experts’ insights on a wide range of relevant topics for grid integration of renewable energies. With participants from Indonesian electricity distributor PLN, independent power producers, regulators and universities the webinar was well received by the Indonesian target groups. This innovation talk was held as part of the 1,000 Islands – Renewable Energy for Electrification Programme (REEP).

About REEP 2

Indonesia’s national energy plan targets to reach 23 percent of renewables by 2025. It is important to achieve this goal to cover future energy demand and essential to meet Indonesia’s commitment under the 2015 Paris Agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 29 percent by 2030.

However so far there is little experience in Indonesia how to integrate renewable energy into the numerous local grids and how to include them into power system planning. Especially there are concerns how to deal with the intermittence of solar and wind energy. To overcome these concerns and the numerous technical administrative and regulatory challenges successful examples of grid integrations of renewables need to be demonstrated and scaled up.

Against this background, the Directorate General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), in cooperation with GIZ, acting on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), have decided to jointly implement the 1,000 Islands – Renewable Energy for Electrification Programme (REEP).
