Workshop on

“Grid Forming Technology and System Flexibility: Technical Challenges and Regulatory and Policy Solutions”

The exclusive full-day workshop “Grid Forming Technology and System Flexibility: Technical Challenges and Regulatory and Policy Solutions” was exploring the deployment of Grid-Forming Technology (GFM) across Europe in Berlin, Germany. This invitation-only workshop was organised back-to-back with the 24th Wind & Solar Integration Workshop (7-10 October 2025) on 6 October 2025 in the Berlin Marriott Hotel.

Leading experts and innovative professionals from TSOs, DSOs, regulatory bodies, OEMs, research institutions and associations examined the present state of Grid Forming Technology (GFM) deployment and its impact on system flexibility and stability at the European level.

In this high-impact workshop, about 60 participants contributed their technical proficiency and strategic insight in identifying key regulatory and policy gaps, addressing implementation challenges, and shaping actionable solutions to advance targeted emission reductions.

Insights were provided through expert contributions on both technical hurdles and regulatory frameworks. A summary of this full-day workshop was produced, Chatham House Rules applied.
