1st ASEAN Regional Training on RE Grid Integration

Energynautics CEOs Dr. Thomas Ackermann and Dr. Eckehard Tröster have recently concluded the 1st ASEAN Regional Training on RE Grid Integration in Jakarta, Indonesia from 20 – 21 March 2018.

This training was the first meeting of a training series that is planned to be held three times (2nd training will be in Bangkok 13-15 August 2018 tentative, 3rd training will be in Kuala Lumpur February 2019).

This RE Grid Integration training series is conducted by AGEP (ASEAN German Energy Programme), jointly implemented by ASEAN Center for Energy and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), to promote exchange of stakeholders on RE Grid Integration in ASEAN and also to develop the report of Grid Integration status quo, challenges and recommendation in every ASEAN Member State.

The grid integration experts from Energynautics were commissioned to share their extensive knowledge on RE Grid Integration with the 35 training participants from 7 countries.

After giving a basic overview of variable renewable energy including basics of solar PV and wind energy and the different types of technologies as well as a discussion on the economic drivers for the development of renewables, they presented on Grid control and operations in the renewable energy context.

Thanks to their years-long worldwide experience, the Energynautics CEOs could share crucial International lessons learned from integrating VRE into power systems. Their Grid Control and Operations presentations included the general technical discussion of challenges of integrating VRE on the system level and on the distribution level as well as the VRE support of grid operation (Ancillary Services from RES). Sessions on Forecasting & Flexibility and Regulatory Issues as well as in-depth discussions were also part of the comprehensive training program.

It is one of Energynautics core endeavors to disseminate knowledge on RE grid integration. Therefore, we are organizing a series of yearly conferences on RE grid integration. They have developed into meeting points for international experts and provide optimal conditions for an intense exchange of opinions, knowledge, and project experience.

This year, the 17th Wind Integration Workshop, the 8th Solar Integration Workshop and the 2nd E-Mobility Power System Integration Symposium will take place in Stockholm, Sweden from 15 – 19 October 2018. From 8 – 9 May 2018, we are also organizing the 3rd International Hybrid Power Systems Workshop in Tenerife, Spain.
