Workshop on Smart Grid Development
as part of the Smart Grids for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Project
On 19 September 2019, Energynautics CEO Dr. Thomas Ackermann presented recommendations on Smart Grid development in a workshop in Hanoi, Vietnam. The event is part of the Smart Grids for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Project, which is jointly implemented by the Electricity Regulatory Authority of Viet Nam (ERAV) of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
The workshop was attended by representatives of ERAV and MOIT, international development partners, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and its subsidiaries, university lecturers, as well as private investors and international and local experts.
In order to maintain power system security in a system with rapidly growing demand and generation, grid operators must expand and upgrade their infrastructure. By increasing levels of information exchange between the various system components, smart grid technologies can improve reliability, security, and efficiency of the power system and facilitate integration of increasing levels of variable Renewable Energy.
