3rd ASEAN Regional Training on RE Grid Integration

Energynautics CEOs Dr. Thomas Ackermann and Dr. Eckehard Tröster have recently concluded the 3rd ASEAN Regional Training on RE Grid Integration that takes place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 27 February – 1 March 2019.

This training is the last meeting of a training series that was held three times (1st training from 20 – 21 March 2018 in Jakarta, 2nd training from 15 – 18 August 2018 in Bangkok).

This RE Grid Integration training series is conducted by AGEP (ASEAN German Energy Programme), jointly implemented by ASEAN Center for Energy and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), to promote exchange of stakeholders on RE Grid Integration in ASEAN and also to develop the report of Grid Integration status quo, challenges and recommendation in every ASEAN Member State.

The grid integration experts from Energynautics were commissioned to share their extensive knowledge on RE Grid Integration with the 33 training participants from 8 ASEAN countries.

After reviewing the first and second training course, Dr. Tröster and Dr. Ackermann presented on grid stability and grid operation. They also offered participants the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in specialized sessions on topics such as “Blackstarting a power system with high penetration of vRE”, “Operation of Island Grids with high penetration of vRE” as well as “Balancing and VPP” and “Protection Issues with vRE”. These sessions were conducted in a two track mode in order to allow participants the specialization most suited to their specific needs.

The comprehensive training course also featured several hands-on exercises in which participants could demonstrate the knowledge they had gained during the training as well as a course evaluation.

It is one of Energynautics core endeavors to disseminate knowledge on RE grid integration. Therefore, we are conducting trainings on RE grid integration and organizing a series of yearly conferences on RE grid integration. They have developed into meeting points for international experts and provide optimal conditions for an intense exchange of opinions, knowledge, and project experience.

This year, the 18th Wind Integration Workshop, the 9th Solar Integration Workshop and the 3rd E-Mobility Power System Integration Symposium will take place in Dublin, Ireland from 14 – 18 October 2019. We are also organizing the 4th International Hybrid Power Systems Workshop in Crete, Greece from 22- 23 May 2019.
